Level

Participants should have an advanced knowledge of English so the language will not form a hurdle within this workshop. They should already have some experience with designing an academic poster as they will have to bring own material to the second class.

Content

This module starts by analyzing the poster medium and simulating how to properly construct it by pinpointing a main message and storyboarding a structure.
A host of authentic examples from various fields are used to focus on important aspects such as clear structure & order of information, appealing layout & title, adapted text & visuals. These examples are extensively discussed to draw up practical guidelines and to find out how participants can implement these within their research topic. 
During the second session, the participants will bring one of their own posters to present its content to and discuss its design with their colleagues. Tips will be shared on how to improve the poster and properly present it at conferences.
