International law, including human rights law, legitimises a regime which allows Europeans and their descendants in settler colonies to move around the world in a safe, fast and cheap manner, while the mobility of others in restricted through state violence.
- Can international law help us in thinking of concrete steps towards migration justice?
- How can the role of states and of transnational corporations be regulated with a view to limiting the brutality of the current international law regime?
These questions will be addressed in a conversation between B.S. Chimni, Distinguished Professor of International Law at Jindal Global law School and Tendayi Achiume, professor of Law at Stanford Law School, moderated by Thomas Spijkerboer, research professor of migration law at Ghent University.
