Description

We are excited to invite you to a unique guest lecture as part of the master’s course "Language, Diversity, and Globalization". This engaging session will feature two academics from South Africa, dr. Xolisa Guzula (University of Cape Town) and dr. Robyn Tyler (University of the Western Cape), offering a comparative perspective on multilingualism in education from both the Global North and Global South.

In today’s increasingly interconnected world, multilingualism is a key issue in education. Our guest speakers will explore how language diversity is approached across different contexts, focusing on the societal, school, and classroom levels. They will dive into the distinct challenges and opportunities faced in managing multilingual environments in both regions, touching on crucial themes such as social justice, linguistic identity, and access to education.

This lecture promises to be an enriching dialogue that will deepen your understanding of global multilingualism. Open to PhD students, researchers, and faculty, the event provides a platform for in-depth discussion, reflection, and networking with experts in the field. Take this opportunity to engage with innovative ideas and explore collaborative research possibilities across academic and cultural boundaries
