In the UNIVERSITAS series, a debate is organized by the Ghent University Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The following key questions will be addressed. Does the world have the medicines it needs? How are choices made for R&D and marketing of medicines? Can we provide affordable medicines for an aging population? Can we provide sufficient and affordable high-quality medicines in developing countries? Is the relationship between prosperity for society and profit in the pharmaceutical sector in balance? Global needs will be discussed from a scientific, economic, cultural, and ethical framework.

The panel members in this debate are Ajit baron Shetty (Janssen Pharmaceutica), Dimitri Eynikel (Artsen Zonder Grenzen), Marleen Temmerman (UGent) and Koen Schoors (UGent).
