This course provides a comprehensive introduction to EMG acquisition, processing, and analysis, with a focus on muscle synergies in neuromotor control research. Participants will learn theoretical foundations, methodological considerations, and practical applications, including hands-on work with open-access R-based scripts. The programme spans developmental and clinical populations, from newborns to adults and post-stroke patients. By combining expert-led lectures with practical exercises, participants gain skills to analyse and interpret EMG data in their own research.
Programme:
Day 1:
8h30: Morning welcome
9h-13h: Overall EMG Introduction – theory and demo of filtering effects (Prof. Hallemans, UAntwerpen)
13h-14h: Lunch
14h-16h30: Theory and Methodological Implications Muscle Synergy Analysis (Prof. Dominici, VU Amsterdam)
