Event: Registration FEB Research Day 2023

You are invited to the annual Research Day of the FEB on Monday 22nd May 2023 at our own faculty!

You are invited to present your paper, either in poster format or as a presentation with discussant. Registration is open as of now and will close on May 1st 2023. 

Poster presentations

A poster offers a great means to visualize your research (ideas) to the members of our faculty in a creative way. There will be a poster jury with professors and postdocs who will give feedback. The most outstanding poster is granted a best poster award. We require you to print it on A1 size (tip: order your poster at University Press). 

Note that posters must also be uploaded digitally by May 15 in PDF format. You will receive more info on this once your registration has been confirmed.

Paper presentations with discussant

If your research has already matured into a (draft)paper and you would like some more extensive feedback and practice your presentation skills, you can opt for a paper presentation. You have 15 minutes to present your paper, followed by 10 minutes of discussion. Note that you have to recruit a discussant yourself and e-mail this name to febresearchday@ugent.be before May 15. You should have contacted your discussant upfront, to make sure that the person can attend your presentation. Your supervisor and/or co-author(s) of the study are excluded. You should give your discussant enough time to review your (draft)paper. We recommend you decide on a deadline to send them the (draft)paper when asking them to be your discussant.

Select this option if you would like to present your poster.

Posters will need to be uploaded in pdf format by May 15th at the latest. Note that you must print the poster yourself (size A1) and bring it to the Research day. If you need help to print the poster, you can coordinate with your departmental secretariat.

Your printed poster will be mounted on posterboards/walls and will be reviewed by a number of jury members. We will send the poster to the jury members ourselves.

The final schedule with the time slot during which you will present the poster will be communicated during the first weeks of May.

Note: you can present both a paper and a poster on the same research day, but it is not mandatory.

Select this option if you would like to present a paper.

You have to find a professor (or postdoc) that will act as discussant for your paper. You should agree on a submission deadline with your discussant so that they have enough time to read the paper and prepare their comments. They will share their comments during the paper presentation on the Research Day. 

Note: you can present both a paper and a poster on the same research day, but it is not mandatory.
