Description

What does it mean to be a researcher in the Humanities? This is a crucial question not just for those involved in Humanities research, but for society at large. Answering this question is all the more important since the Humanities seem to lack the kind of self-explanatory value that is associated with (applied) sciences. This workshop will focus on how to understand the value of a PhD in the Humanities and use this understanding when applying for jobs.

The aim of this workshop is to discuss the unique strengths of Humanities PhDs and find ways to make those qualities work for them in a non-academic setting. In particular they will
- discover their competencies and values as a Humanities researcher
- discuss ways for generating societal impact
- learn about possible career paths
- get to know common hiring methods and to critically engage with career management
